Muralists are the most inspiring type of artist, IMO. Their work is eye-catching, controversial, and unapologetic. Each city has its own distinctive style of murals, which is a direct result of laws governing graffiti and art in public spaces. For example, in Barcelona, a city ironically famous for its reverence of art, graffiti is frequently washed off walls since it could potentially send the wrong message to tourists.
I found these amazing murals in Clarion Alley of San Francisco. It’s literally an alleyway stretching a few blocks, where artists have free range to express their ideas. I love how they use an age-old craft to assess modern day issues.
